The Electronic Transportation Surveillance System (SENT) covers the transportation of so-called sensitive goods, which include fuels, oils, ethyl alcohol, dried tobacco, chemical products or waste, among others. The list of monitored items is subject to regular changes, so entrepreneurs must constantly verify that their goods fall within the scope of the regulation.
Customs and revenue authorities are conducting intensive inspections, and any lapse – from lack of notification to erroneous data – can result in severe financial penalties. It is therefore crucial to monitor shipments on an ongoing basis and to constantly oversee logistics processes to reduce the risk of liability.
